New City, Fresh Prints
Well, hello there!
It’s been awhile. I admit I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus, but for good reason! I’m excited to share that we are now calling Washington, D.C. home! The military has taken us to many beautiful places, as well as some less than desirable places. However, something about DC has me feeling inspired and ready to put my best foot forward on the path to new beginnings. Stepping out on the town that’s full of movers and shakers calls for a bold + colorful statement piece that captures all of the feelings of curiosity and excitement that arise when moving to a new city.
It’s almost overwhelming how much this city inspires me! There is so much history to learn, events to attend, places to explore, and delicious bites to taste. The first restaurant we were recommended upon our arrival was Lebanese Taverna, and it did NOT disappoint. Their wine selection and Mediterranean inspired platters really hit the spot! Old Town Alexandria is a favorite neighborhood for tourists because of its historic architecture, waterfront setting on the Potomac River, and proximity to D.C. It also serves as a longtime dining staple for locals looking for everything from raw bar seafood to Southern barbecue to high-end Japanese tasting menus. Hanks Oyster Bar in Old Town Alexandria offers a beach bar atmosphere that reminds me of the warm and sandy beaches along the gulf coast. It’s my next dining stop and of course, I will share my experience. I love how you can find areas in the city that feel like somewhere else - like a quiet garden or a small, quaint town. Although I’m enjoying the hustle and bustle vibe, I know at some point that a change will be welcomed from the fast paced DC environment. For now, I’m excited for a little exploring!
